Here’s how to be like it and beat it every morning.

They say in life that the only opponent is yourself.

I agree, but only if you’re trying to improve yourself.

“The only opponent you have to beat is yourself, the way you used to be.” — Haruki Murakami

Otherwise, if you’re not trying to improve, you just find yourself competing against others, which is equivalent to an upward social comparison.

Why do I think the Sun is your first greatest opponent?

Take notes on what it’s purpose is.

Besides the obvious that it provides light, heat, and energy. Drives weather, ocean currents, gives plants life. Without the sun, life on earth would not exist.

The purpose I’m talking about is that it aims high to reach the peak in the sky every day before it begins to settle down.

This is symbolic of human nature wanting to evolve and grow. The mindset of those looking to better their lives. To reach certain milestones before old age physically hinders us from doing so.

Be like the Sun. Aim high before you set.

Life is not a race, but the morning should be considered one. The sun rising up is the day waking up.
