The Power of Returning A ‘Thank You’ with A ‘Thank You’
This is not a list of other ways to saying ‘You’re Welcome’ when someone says ‘Thank You’.
Saying ‘You’re Welcome’ actually devalues the ‘Thank You’.
It takes the power away from the person who is thanking you whether they know that or not.
These are prominent moments to share the power with them equally.
How is returning a ‘Thank You’ to someone saying ‘Thank You’ to you, correlated with power?
It’s more of an invitation form rather than a power form.
I learned this powerful lesson a while ago from a book about saying ‘Thank You’ which I can’t recall the title.
When you fulfill a favor for someone, it’s always common and expected for them to say ‘Thank You’, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
The issue is when you respond with ‘You’re welcome’, no matter how sincere you are, you’re really saying, ‘As you should be thanking me for the favor I just did for you’, or somewhere along those lines.
When someone is thanking you, it’s similar to them inviting you somewhere, figuratively speaking.
